Much of change management is typically focused on positively communicating the strategic benefits of the change for the organization and the information necessary to implement the change. Rarely is time spent addressing the emotional impact of change on employees in all levels of the organization. Yet research in organizational behavior has revealed time and again that inattention to the emotional impact of change, or “change pain”, breeds resistance to even the most positive aspects of change.
